Note: You may receive multiple types of cables if you are connecting Element-D’s to different types of assets.

Ensure compliance with your company safety best practices, which may include deenergizing equipment before working with electrical connections. Tidy connection cable to prevent tripping hazards.
Installation Instructions
Receiving the Shipment
1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.
2. When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a 'disconnected' status.
3. When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.
4. Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.
Element-D Initial Power-up
5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.
6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide - Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.
a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard.

Note: Installation of the connection cable to the balance should be done by qualified personnel only.
7. Make sure the Lynx indicator is unplugged before beginning any installation.
8. Release the tabs on the top (and bottom, if needed) of the Lynx indicator. The positions of the tabs are shown in Figure 1.

9. Route the wire end of the connection cable through one of the cable glands, shown in Figure 1b on the bottom of the indicator.
10. Locate the green COM 1 terminal block inside the indicator.
11. Slightly unscrew the screws for the TXD, RXD, and GND slots.
12. Insert the YELLOW wire from the connection cable into the TXD slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
13. Insert the ORANGE wire from the connection cable into the RXD slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
14. Insert the BLACK wire from the connection cable into the GND slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.

15. Close the indicator box.
Configuring Asset Menus
16. Press F, the screen will display Setup?17. Press the Enter/ Print button, the scale will display Scale I/F.18. Press the Next button until the scale displays Serial I/F.19. Press Enter, the scale will display Port Confg.
20. Press Enter, the scale will display Port? and then a word.
a. If Port? is follow by COM 1, press Enter.
b. If not, press Next until it displays COM 1. Press Enter.
21. Press Enter, the scale will display Parameters.
22. Press Enter, the scale will display Baud.
23. Press Enter, the scale will display Baud and then a number.
a. If the number is 9600, press Enter.
b. If not, press the Next button until the scale displays 9600. Press Enter.
24. The screen will display Data Bits, press Enter.
a. If the number displayed next to Data Bit? is 8, press Enter.
b. If not, press Next until it is and then press Enter.
25. The screen will display Parity, press Enter.
a. If the word next to Par? is None, press Enter.
b. If not, press Next until it is and then press Enter.
26. The screen will read Flow Ctrl, press Enter.
a. If the letter next to Xon/Xoff? is N, press Enter.
b. If not, press Next until it is and then press Enter.
27. Press ESC until the screen displays Exit?, then press Enter

28. Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the data port on the Element-D. This will be the USB port and the cable can be plugged into any of the four USB ports as seen in Figure 3.

Positioning the Element-D
29. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.
30. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.
a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization
31. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press Print.32. Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
33. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
34. Contact third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
