Note: You may receive multiple types of cables if you are connecting Element-D’s to different types of assets.

Installation Instructions
Receiving the Shipment
1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.
2. When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a 'disconnected' status.
3. When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.
4. Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.
Element-D Initial Power-up
5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.
6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide - Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.
a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard.

7. Locate the USB data port on the asset (shown in Figure 1) to which the Element-D will connect.

8. Plug one of the USB ends of the Connection Cable (Figure 2) into the data port on the balance

9. Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the data port on the Element-D. This will be the USB port and the cable can be plugged into any of the four USB ports as seen in Figure 3.

Configuring Asset Menus
Prerequisite: You must complete the previous sections, Attaching Connection Cable to Asset and Attaching Connection Cable to Element, in order to set up the balance menus.
10. The first time you plug in the device, you will get a setup wizard. Select USB/RS232 connection. Press Next.
11. Select Printer P-42. Press Next.
12. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Baud rate line. Scroll down and select 9600.
13. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Data bits/parity line. Select 8/No.
14. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Stop bits line. Select 1.
15. Scroll down to Handshake.
16. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Handshake line. Select None.
17. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Line End lines. Select <CR><LF>.
18. Click ⋮ on the right hand side of the touchscreen of the Line End lines. Select ANSI/WIN.
19. Press Next.
20. Name the Printer ED. Click ✓.
21. Press Next.
22. Press Finish. Press Save. Press OK.
23. You will reach the home screen. Press Edit on the bottom left of the touchscreen.24. Scroll down the left menu unite you reach the Print/Export menu item. Press Print/Export.
25. Press Protocol printout and data export on the top of right hand side.
26. Press Template settings.
27. Scroll down and press Result detail information.
28. Check boxes for Weight, Tare weight, and Gross weight.
29. Press OK three times. Press Save.
30. Press the Settings icon on the display panel.31. Select Settings on the touchscreen.
32. Select Weighing/Quality on the right side of the screen.
33. Select Automatic weight value output.
34. Scroll down and select Net Indicator and set it to Active.
35. Then press Ok and then Save. Press OK.
36. Press Date/Time/Language/Format on the right side of the screen.
37. Check the format for Date format. Ensure that it does not include a decimal point.
a. If it does, press ⋮. Select a data format that does not include decimals points.
38. Check the format for Time format. Ensure that it does not include a decimal point.
a. If it does, press ⋮. Select a data format that does not include decimals points.
39. Press Save. Press OK. Press Close.
Positioning the Element-D
40. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.
41. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.
a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization
42. Tare the balance using the TARE button. This is different than the Zero button.
Note: This step is mandatory. No measurement will be recorded without taring the balance first. The display on the balance will show NET to indicate the balance has been tared. (It is not required to tare the balance before each balance reading).
43. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press Add to Protocol.
44. Press Complete.
45. Then press Print protocol manually.
46. Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
47. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
48. Contact third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
