Note: You may receive multiple types of cables if you are connecting Element-D’s to different types of assets.

Installation Instructions
Receiving the Shipment
1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.
2. When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a 'disconnected' status.
3. When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.
4. Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.
Element-D Initial Power-up
5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.
6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide - Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.
a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard.
Attaching Connection Cable to Asset
7. Locate the RS232 data port on the asset (shown in Figure 1) to which the Element-D will connect.

8. Plug the RS232 end into the RS232 port on the Mettler Toledo Scale and the USB end into the USB port on the Element D.
Configuring Asset Menus
9. Press the Settings icon to open the settings menu.
10. Use the Plus icon to move forwards through the menu and the Enter icon to select.
11. Use the Plus icon to move through the menu until the screen reads ADVANCED and then use Enter to select.
12. Use the Plus icon to move through the menu until the screen reads DATE.FORM and then use Enter to select.
13. Use the Plus icon to move through the menu until the date option is a format that DOES NOT include a period and then use Enter to select.
14. Press the Settings icon to save the changes made and use Enter to confirm if prompted.
15. Press the Settings icon to open the settings menu again.
16. Use the Plus icon to move through the menu until the screen reads INT.FACE and then use Enter to select.
17. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads SINGLE and then use Enter to select.
18. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads Net and then use Enter to select.
19. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads BAUDRATE and then use Enter to select.
20. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads 9600 and then use Enter to select.
21. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads BIT/PAR. and then use Enter to select.
22. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads 8/NO and then use Enter to select.
23. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads STOP BIT and then use Enter to select.
24. Use the Plus to continue through the menu until the screen reads 1 BIT and then use Enter to select.
25. Press the Settings icon again to exit the settings and use Enter to save if prompted.
Attaching Connection Cable to Element
26. Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the data port on the Element-D. This will be in the USB port which are any of the four on the right as pictured in Figure 2.

Positioning the Element-D
27. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.
28. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.
a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization
29. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press PRINT.
30. Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
31. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
32. Contact any third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
