Note: You may receive multiple types of cables if you are connecting Element-D’s to different types of assets.

Installation Instructions
Receiving the Shipment
1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.
2. When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard™ with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a 'disconnected' status.
3. When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.
4. Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.
Element-D Initial Power-up
5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.
6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide -
Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.
a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard.

7. Locate the RS232 data port on the asset (shown in Figure 1) to which the Element-D will connect.

8. Plug the RS232 end (shown in Figure 2) into the port on the balance (note that this may require unscrewing t plate connecting the weight plate from the display screen) and the USB end (shown in Figure 2) into the Element D.

Configuring Asset Menus
9. Press the tools icon on the terminal to enter the Main Menu.
10. Use the red outlined up and down buttons to navigate the menu, the door to go back, and the check to select. (The icons above the red boxes appear on the display.)
11. Scroll down the main menu and select Communication.
12. Select RS232.
13. Select Print Setup.
14. Scroll down and select Edit Template.
15. Select Custom 1. (If you do not have this option available in your menu, proceed to the next free template available.)
16. Select Field 1 and then select Gross.
17. Use the Check button to go back to the Edit Template Custom 1 page and then select Field 2. Set Field 2 to New Line.
18. Use the Check button to go back to the Edit Template Custom 1 page and then select Field 3. Set Field 3 to Net.
19. Use the Check button to go back to the Edit Template Custom 1 page and then select Field 4. Set Field 4 to New Line.
20. Use the Check button to go back to the Edit Template Custom 1 page and then select Field 5. Set Field 5 to Tare.
21. Use the Check button to go back to the Edit Template Custom 1 page and then select Field 2. Set Field 2 to New Line.
22. Use the back button twice to go back to the Print Setup page and then select Select Template.
23. Select Custom 1.
24. Use the back button to go back to the RS232 page and then select Configuration.
25. Select the Baud Rate and set it to 9600.
26. Use the Check button to go back to the Configuration page and then select Parity and set it to 8 None.
27. Use the Check button to go back to the Configuration page and then select Stop Bits and set it to 1 bit.
28. To exit menu, press the tool icon.

29. Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the any of the USB data ports on the Element-D, as shown in Figure 2.

Positioning the Element-D
30. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.
31. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.
a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization
32. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press PRINT.
33. Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
34. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
