Installation Instructions

Receiving the Shipment

1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.

2. When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a 'disconnected' status.

3. When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.

4. Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.


Element-D Initial Power-up

5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.

6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide - Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.

a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard.

7. Locate the data port on the Ohaus Navigator Series Balance to which the Element-D will connect. If there is a placeholder, slide the place holder out before plugging in the USB interface.

8. Plug the USB end of the Connection Cable into the USB port on the asset as shown in Figure 1.

9. Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the any of the USB data ports on the Element-D, as shown in Figure 2.

Configuring Asset Menus

Please note: The balance must be plugged into the Element-D for the correct menu to display.

10. Confirm the switch on the underside of the balance is set to “Unlocked” as shown in Figure 3 below.

11. Use the Zero button to turn on the balance and wait for 0 to display.

12. Press and hold TARE until the screen displays CAL.

13. Use the Zero/Yes and Print/No buttons as navigate through the menu.

14. Press No to advance through the menu items until the screen reads U.S.b.

15. Press Yes to select USB and the screen will read On-Off.

16. Press Yes.

a. If the screen reads On, press Yes to continue.

b. If the screen reads OFF press No to set to On then press Yes to continue.

17. The screen will read bAUd. Press Yes.

18. A number will display on the screen.

a. If the number displayed is 9600, press Yes.

b. If it is not 9600, press No until the number displayed is 9600, then press Yes.

19. Then the screen will read PArity. Select Yes.

a. If the screen reads 8-nonE, press Yes.

b. If the screen does not read 8-nonE, press No until the screen reads 8-nonE and then press Yes.

20. The screen should now read HAndSh, press Yes.

a. If the text displayed is nonE, press Yes.

b. If the text displayed is not nonE, press No until the text displayed is nonE. Select Yes.

21. The screen will read End. Press Yes twice.

22. Configuration is now complete. Change the switch on the underside of the scale to the Locked position, as shown in Figure 3.


Positioning the Element-D

23. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.

24. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.

a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used. 


Finalization

25. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press PRINT

26. Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).

27. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.

28. Contact any third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
