Introduction
This page provides work instructions on how to setup an Element to connect to the Sartorius Biostat RM 2050 rocker.
Materials
Your package contains the following items:
- Element-D
- USB to serial converter cable (Please note: You must use the provided cable. Off the shelf USB-to-serial cables will not work)

- Flathead screwdriver
Setup Instructions
1. Carefully remove the contents from its packaging. If any of the contents looks damaged, please send a picture of the contents to help@elementalmachines.com.
2. Power on the Element and complete the Wifi Connect instructions.
3. Connect the DB9 end of provided cable to the ‘D-Link 2’ port on the back of the rocker. Do not use D-Link 3. Connect the USB end of the provided cable to the Element-D.
4. If you have changed any communication setting, revert back to the factory settings.
a. Make sure you have supervisor user permission -- Follow the directions in the BioStat manual to change user level permissions:
b. Check that the communication settings are set to the following values by following the directions in the BioStat manual to access the communications setup screen:

c. Upon completion, click ‘COM SETUP’. You will then find this screen:
If the settings do not match the ones listed in the table above, change the values to match.
5. Confirm that data appears on the Elemental Machines dashboard. Set up any desired alerts.
