Introduction

This page provides work instructions on how to setup the Dwyer DH3 Series Digihelic Differential Pressure Sensor with the Element-C. These instructions apply to the following models:

  • DH3-002
  • DH3-003
  • DH3-004
  • DH3-005
  • DH3-006
  • DH3-007
  • DH3-009
  • DH3-010
  • DH3-011

Materials Provided

  • Element-C w/Power Supply

Equipment/Materials needed for Setup:

  • Small flathead screwdriver for screws on Element-C terminal block
  • Electrical tape

Procedure

1. Carefully remove the contents from its packaging.  If any of the contents looks damaged, please send a picture of the contents to help@elementalmachines.io.

2. Plug in the Element-C and complete the Wifi Connect instructions.

3. Unplug the Element-C.

4. Connect open wire end of the 15-pin D-Sub connector cable to the Element-C.

Note:  Only 4 out of the 15 wires will be connected to the Element-C.  Secure the remaining wire ends with electrical tape.

a. Slightly loosen the screws in Slots 1, 2, 4, and 9.

b. Insert the RED wire from the D-Sub connector cable into SLOT 1 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.

c. Insert the BLACK wire from the D-Sub connector cable into SLOT 2 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.

d. Insert the BROWN wire from the D-Sub connector cable into SLOT 4 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.

e. Insert the YELLOW wire from the D-Sub connector cable into SLOT 9 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.

5. Remove the Element-C cover to reveal the electronic assembly inside.  Make sure the DIP switches on the board are set as follows:

1=OFF

2=ON

3=OFF

4=OFF

6. Attach the male end to the D-Sub connector cable to the Dwyer differential pressure sensor.

7. Ensure the sensor powers on.

8. To confirm the range of measurement matches the configuration of the Elemental Machines device

a. Press the Menu button on the Dwyer display. The display will read as follow:

b. Press the :small_red_triangle_down: until you reach the ADV screen:

c. Press the 'E' button. The display will change to POL:

d. Confirm that the display reads 0.000

e. Press the :small_red_triangle_down:  button. The display will change to POH.  Confirm the reading is the value in Table 1. Below is a display from DH3-002.

9. If the readings for POL and POH are not the values shown on the table, the values will need to be modified, per the instructions in the Dwyer user manual.

10. Check that data from the Dwyer sensor appears on the Elemental Machines dashboard. Setup any desired alerts on the dashboard.
