Introduction

This page provides work instructions on how to setup the Element-C to connect to the Caron 7400-25-33 Series incubator. These instructions apply to the following Caron models:

• 7400-25
• 7400-33
• 7401-25
• 7401-33
• 7402-25
• 7402-33
• 7403-25
• 7403-33

Materials

Your package contains the following items:

• Element-C w/Power Supply
• 4- and 6-wire Connection cable (only one is required based on analog accessory)  

Equipment Needed for Setup

• Small flathead screwdriver
• Additional screwdriver needed for Caron incubator connection

Setup Instructions

1. Carefully remove the contents from its packaging. If any of the contents looks damaged, please send a picture of the contents to help@elementalmachines.com. 
2. Plug in the Element-C and complete the Wifi Connect instructions (see attachment). 

Pre-requisites for Integrating with the Caron incubator:

• Determine whether the incubator is equipped with OUTP302 or OUTP303. OUTP302 will allow for monitoring of TEMP and one of the following: either RELATIVE HUMIDITY OR CO2. OUTP303 will allow for monitoring of TEMP, RELATIVE HUMIDITY, and CO2. 
• If the incubator is equipped with OUTP302, use the 4-wire connection cable.  If the incubator is equipped with OUTP303, use the 6-wire connection cable.
• Ensure that the temp range is set to -50C to 100C under the Analog Output Screen.  NOTE: this is the default setting.  If changed, Element-C will not output accurate data!

Caron Incubator Integration

OUTP302:

1. Locate the Analog output connections on the back of the incubator.  Determine which two parameters will be monitored:  TEMP + RH or CO2 (pick one of the latter).
2. Wire up the incubator for TEMP:
   1. Loosen the screw for TEMP I(+) Slot.  Insert the RED wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for the COM(-) Slot under TEMP.  Insert the WHITE wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
3. Select one of the following two parameter for monitoring (RH or CO2):

Element-C Wiring:

1. Wire up the Element-C for TEMP:
   1. Loosen the screw for Slot 1.  Insert the free end of the RED wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for Slot 2.  Insert the free end of the WHITE wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
2. Wire up the Element-C for one of the two options:

Element-C Wiring: Temp + RH		Element-C Wiring: Temp + CO2

OUTP303:

1. Locate the Analog output connections on the back of the incubator.  
2. Wire up the incubator for TEMP:
   1. Loosen the screw for TEMP I(+) Slot.  Insert the RED wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for the COM(-) Slot under TEMP.  Insert the WHITE wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
3. Wire up the incubator for RH:
   1. Loosen the screw for RH I(+) Slot.  Insert the BLUE wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for the COM(-) Slot under RH.  Insert the GREEN wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
4. Wire up the incubator for CO2:
   1. Loosen the screw for CO2 I(+) Slot.  Insert the BLACK wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for the COM(-) Slot under CO2.  Insert the BROWN wire from the cable into the slot.  Tighten the screw to secure the wire.

Element-C Wiring:

1. Wire up the Element-C for TEMP:
   1. Loosen the screw for Slot 1. Insert the free end of the RED wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for Slot 2. Insert the free end of the WHITE wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
2. Wire up the Element-C for RH:
   1. Loosen the screw for Slot 3. Insert the free end of the BLUE wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for Slot 4. Insert the free end of the GREEN wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
3. Wire up the Element-C for CO2
   1. Loosen the screw for Slot 5. Insert the free end of the BLUE wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
   2. Loosen the screw for Slot 6. Insert the free end of the GREEN wire from the cable into the slot. Tighten the screw to secure the wire.
