Introduction

This page provides work instructions on how to setup the Element-C to connect to a PHCBI incubator. These instruction apply to the following PHCBI incubator model series:

  • MCO Series 
  • KM Series
  • Cell IQ Series
  • CytoGrow Series

Materials

Your package contains the following items:

  • Element-C with Power Supply
  • Connection cable NOTE: This is unique to the PHCBI Incubator

Equipment Needed for Setup

  • Small flathead screwdriver
  • Small Phillips screwdriver

Setup Instructions

Prerequisites:

  • MCO-420MA-PW (Analog output module) must be installed prior to completing the procedure.

Connecting Element-C to PHCBI Incubator:

  1. Carefully remove the contents from its packaging. If any of the contents looks damaged, please send a picture of the contents to help@elementalmachines.com. 
  2. Plug-in the Element-C and complete the Wifi Connect instructions.
  3. Unplug the Element-C.
  4. Wire the Connection cable to Element-C. Slightly loosen the screws in Slots 1 through 6 on the green terminal block on the Element-C.
    1. Insert the RED Wire from the Connection Cable into SLOT 1 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.
    2. Insert the WHITE Wire from Connection Cable into SLOT 2 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.
    3. Insert the BLUE Wire from Connection Cable into SLOT 3 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.
    4. Insert the GREEN Wire from Connection Cable into SLOT 4 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.
    5. Insert the BLACK Wire from Connection Cable into SLOT 5 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.
    6. Insert the BROWN Wire from Connection Cable into SLOT 6 of the green terminal block on the Element-C. Tighten the screw to ensure that the wire is secure in the slot.

5. Power off the Incubator.

6. Wire the Connection cable to the PHCBI Incubator:

  1. Slightly loosen the screws for the O2, CO2, and TEMP channels on the black terminal block of the PHCBI Incubator.
  2. Connect the fork terminal of the BLUE wire from Connection Cable to the O2 (+) slot from top to bottom. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.
  3. Connect the fork terminal of the GREEN wire from Connection Cable to the O2 (-) slot. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.
  4. Connect the fork terminal of the BLACK wire from Connection Cable to the CO2 (+) slot. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.
  5. Connect the fork terminal of the BROWN wire from Connection Cable to the CO2 (-) slot. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.
  6. Connect the fork terminal of the RED wire from Connection Cable to the Temp (+) slot. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.

7. Connect the fork terminal of the WHITE wire from Connection Cable to the Temp (-) slot. Tighten the screw to ensure that the connector is secure.

8. Plug in the Element-C. Power on the incubator and make sure that the data appears on your Elemental Machines dashboard.  Setup desired alerts on the dashboard.
